To,

The Chief Reporter,

Sub: Press Conference on 23rd May 2011, Monday at 3 p.m. at the Press Club, Opp. B.M.C Head Office, C.S.T. Mumbai.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Under the auspices of 'Committee for Defense of Teesta Setalvad and Justice in Gujarat', a Press Conference has been organized on 23rd May 2011, Monday at 3 p.m. at the Press Club, Opp. B.M.C Head Office, C.S.T. Mumbai.

Shri P.B. Sawant (Retd. Supreme Court Judge) and Shri. Suresh Mehta (Fmr. Chief Minister of Gujarat), will address the Press Conference.

The agenda of the Press Conference is "Subversion of Justice in Gujarat and victimization of those fighting for Justice." One glaring example of such victimization is the case of Human Rights Activist Teesta Setalvad, who is facing continual threats to her security coupled with character assassination, false criminal charges and allegations.

At the Press Conference, the Committee will release documents, showing as to how a maliciously motivated campaign is being carried out by the powers that be, with a view to distract, distort and disrupt the course of justice, against Human Rights Activist Teesta Setalvad and those fighting for justice in Gujarat.

At the first meeting of the Committee, Shri P.B. Sawant (Retd. Justice, Supreme Court) was appointed as the Chairman. Shri. Suresh Mehta (Fmr. Chief Minister, Gujarat) and Dr. Azgar Ali Engineer were appointed as Vice Chairmen. Smt. Romila Thapar, Shri. Irfan Habib, Dr. Ram Puniyani, Shri. Juzer Bandukwala and Shri. Irfan Engineer are members of the Committee.

You are cordially invited to the Press Conference.

In case you are unable to attend, please depute your representative to cover the same and assist us by giving wider coverage to this crucial issue in your esteemed newspaper/news channel.

The extended meeting of the Committee, including other additional members is also convened later on 25th May 2011 at 5 p.m. at Bombay Union of Journalists Hall, Second Floor, Prospect Chambers Annexe, D.N. Road, Fort, Mumbai.

With regards,

Yours sincerely,

B.A. Desai
