CIA director reveals 25-minute video blackout as Navy Seals stormed compound --Obama DIDN'T see Bin Laden being killed --Live feed from Navy Seals helmet cameras was cut off as they entered compound --Iconic image of President Obama and national security aides may not have been them watching mission unfold 05 May 2011 The director of the CIA has today revealed there was a 25 minute video blackout during the raid on Osama Bin Laden's compound in Pakistan. Leon Panetta admitted the live feed from helmet-mounted cameras worn by the Navy Seal team was cut off as they stormed the buildings in Abbottabad. A photograph of U.S. President Barack Obama, defence staff and aides in the situation room was released by the White House, appearing to show them anxiously watching as the mission unfolded. But in reality they knew little of what was taking place in the fortified compound during the 38 minutes it took the Navy Seals to complete Operation Geronimo.

Blackout during raid on bin Laden compound --The head of the CIA admitted yesterday that there was no live video footage of the raid on Osama bin Laden's compound as further doubts emerged about the US version of events. 04 May 2011 Leon Panetta, director of the CIA, revealed there was a 25 minute blackout during which the live feed from cameras mounted on the helmets of the US special forces was cut off. In fact they had little knowledge of what was happening in the compound.

Bin Laden, two others didn't fire on SEALs: sources 05 May 2011 Only one of four principal targets shot dead by U.S. commandos in the raid which killed Osama bin Laden was involved in any hostile fire, a person familiar with the latest U.S. government reporting on the raid told Reuters on Thursday. The account of Monday's 40-minute raid has new descriptions of the event, including that Navy SEALs shot an occupant of the compound who they thought was armed, but apparently was not. It confirms that bin Laden was not armed when he was shot dead, nor are there indications that he directly threatened his attackers, according to the first source and a second U.S. government source who is familiar with briefings on the raid.

Photos show three dead men at bin Laden raid house --None of the men looked like bin Laden. 04 May 2011 Photographs acquired by Reuters and taken about an hour after the U.S. assault on Osama bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad in Pakistan show three dead men lying in pools of blood, but no weapons. The photos, taken by a Pakistani security official who entered the compound after the early morning raid on Monday, show two men dressed in traditional Pakistani garb and one in a T-shirt, with blood streaming from their ears, noses and mouths.

Bin Laden could be dead: terrorism expert - January 2006 16 Jan 2006 An Australian terrorism expert says he has been given evidence, which could show Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden is either seriously ill or dead. Professor Clive Williams from Macquarie University says he has been provided with evidence, by an Indian colleague, to support the theory that bin Laden died of massive organ failure in April last year. "...[I]t does seem reasonably convincing based on the evidence that I've been provided with that he's certainly either severely incapacitated or dead at this stage," Professor Williams said.

'Geronimo': Native Americans blast bin Laden code name --'It's another attempt to label Native Americans as terrorists,' says Sioux member 04 May 2011 Native Americans are objecting to the U.S. military's use of the code name "Geronimo" for Osama bin Laden during the raid that killed the al-Qaida leader. After bin Laden was killed, the military sent a message back to the White House: "Geronimo EKIA" -- enemy killed in action. News about the code name spread quickly across Indian Country and on social network sites, resulting in a groundswell of criticism against the government.

Will Bin Laden's sea burial backfire? Radical Muslims already name location 'Martyr's Sea' 05 May 2011 Radical Muslims are already calling the site of Osama bin Laden's ocean burial the 'Martyr's Sea', according to one of Britain's leading Islamic scholars. The US said the decision to drop bin Laden's body into the North Arabian Sea was taken to avoid creating a shrine for the slain Al Qaeda chief. But Abdal Hakim Murad, Muslim Chaplain at Cambridge University, claimed yesterday that the move could backfire on the Americans. Speaking on Radio 4's 'Today' programme, he said it was 'disappointing' that bin Laden wasn't taken into custody. 'By tipping him into the sea, the Americans may have created a kind of shrine. Some radicals are already calling the Arabian Sea the Martyr's Sea,' he said.

Sir Paul Stephenson said communities must remain "vigilant..." The Queen's Metropolitan Police commissioner said the "severe" threat from international terrorism was "not a bureaucratic description, but rather a factual assessment of the reality of the threat we face. To be blunt it means that an attack is highly likely and could occur without warning at any time," he added.

Chilling Al-Qaeda email sent to undercover reporter details how extremists plan to strike Britain in a Mumbai-style terror attack 05 May 2011 A horrifying email sent to an undercover reporter posing as an extremist has revealed a terror chief's instructions to commit an atrocity in Britain. The chilling exchange between the reporter and Anwar al-Awlaki - widely tipped to succeed Osama Bin Laden as Al Qaeda [al-CIAduh] leader - outlines the various options open to extremists who want to launch an attack on British soil. In the correspondence, al-Awlaki allegedly advises 'pipe bombs, assassinations or using a firearm at a location crowded with enemies'.

Holder: Info seized from bin Laden compound likely to expand terror watch list  --'We probably will add people to the watch list.' 04 May 2011 Attorney General Eric Holder said Wednesday that teams of federal officials gathered from across the government are reviewing the cache of information seized from Osama bin Laden's compound that authorities hope will offer fresh leads about new plots and the whereabouts of surviving terror operatives. Holder, in testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, said he fully expected that the information -- contained in a mix of documents, computer hard-drives and discs -- would yield new names that will expand the nation's terror watch list.

Al-Qaida aspired to attack US train on 9/11/11 --Records seized in bin Laden raid show anniversary plot under consideration 05 May 2011 Al-Qaida [al-CIAduh] considered attacking U.S. trains on the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, according to an initial look at DVDs, computers and other documents seized at the raid on Osama bin Laden's home, NBC News reported Thursday. However, U.S. officials told NBC News that they have no recent intelligence indicating such a plot is active. The information about a possible train plot is the first intelligence revealed from the trove of material found in the attack on bin Laden's compound. Expert: Security Checkpoints Near Soft Targets May Soon Become the Norm --A Day May Come When You'll Be Patted Down Going Into Stores 03 May 2011 Counter terrorism experts say a retaliation attack for Osama bin Laden's death is inevitable. Terrorists are expected to aim for more vulnerable soft targets like shopping malls or museums. Counter terrorism expert Juval Aviv said terrorists seeking revenge for Osama bin Laden's death will turn to attacks less dramatic than the destruction on Sept. 11 -- focusing instead on soft targets like hotels, places of worship and mass transit hubs. Security consultant David Boehm said the future could include security check points entering all soft targets -- like your local department store.

NYC Maintains Heightened Security After Bin Laden Death 03 May 2011 While Mayor Bloomberg says there's no specific threat against the Big Apple after the death of Osama bin Laden, the NYPD was taking no chances. Bomb-sniffing dogs and officers carrying automatic rifles were patrolling transit hubs across the city. An intelligence source told CBS News that law enforcement officials were concerned terror operatives may be directed to come to the US to carry out a plot, or that a so-called "lone wolf" with no official terrorist group affiliation may carry out an attack without direction against the sheer number of available targets in our region, from train terminals, to tunnels, bridges, and our water supply, just to avenge bin Laden's death.

The New York Police Department has said the heightened security put in place in response to Osama bin Laden's death will remain until at least after the president has left. Officials have repeated that there are no specific threats against New York but that they assume the al Qaeda leader's "disciples" might try to avenge his death with a terror attack.

Suspicious letters with white powder mailed to 25 DC schools --Letters have postmarks from Dallas; no illnesses reported 05 May 2011 More than 20 letters that contained a white, powdery substance delivered to District of Columbia schools on Thursday are similar to those mailed to schools elsewhere in the U.S. over the last several weeks, the FBI said. Preliminary testing by hazardous materials crews found the powder in the letters received in the district was not harmful, two law enforcement officials with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press. In addition to the powder, the envelopes contained a letter referring to al-Qaida and the FBI, that official said.

Pakistan top brass warns US 05 May 2011 Pakistan's military threatened to halt its co-operation with the US if there was a repeat of the attack that killed Osama bin Laden this week... A statement released by the Pakistan army after General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, the chief of staff, met his senior commanders for the first time on Thursday since US navy Seals killed bin Laden said: "The chief of army staff made it very clear that any similar action, violating the sovereignty of Pakistan, will warrant a review on the level of military/intelligence co-operation with the United States".

Applications for unemployment benefits hit 8-month high 06 May 2011 The number of Americans applying for unemployment benefits surged last week to the highest level in eight months, a troubling sign a day ahead of the government's report on April employment. The Labor Department said Thursday that applications rose 43,000 last week to a seasonally adjusted 474,000. But that was largely the result of unusual factors, including a high number of school systems in New York that closed for spring break, the department said.
