Is Left-backed AG to come in Bengal?

There has already been a big round of chaos in Calcutta High Court today regarding Anindya Mitra's apoinment as next AG. It has been reported that TMC is looking for Barrister Anindya Mitra as the next Advocate General. Though Mitra didn't confirm the news, but Writers' Building and Calcutta High Court were abuzz the he would succeed Mr. Balai Ray (present AG)."

Other than Mitra, some senior lawyers – Shaktinath Mukherjee, Bimal Chatterjee and Jayanta Mitra were considered by the team found by Mamta to select the next AG. But why the other names are not being discussed is a real food for thought.

Who is this Anindya Mitra? Who will move into the shoes of Balai Roy in the post of AG after Roy's expected resignation? Let's have a look…

• He an Ex-Presidencian who recently made a member of the council of Presidency University because another alumnus Mr. Buddhadev Bhattacharya, Chief Minister of West Bengal wanted him on the panel.
• Though TMC is saying that Mamata doesn't want a party activist or sympathizer as AG. She wants an able person with command over the person to represent her government in court cases, but the same Anindya Mitra hold the post of Additional Solicitor General for two months under left regime. So the question emerges – how can a barrister having special relation with CPIM can ever been in a position to represent Mamta'as government in court cases fairly?

While commenting upon this a senior journalist said – "Normally the AG must look after the interests of ruling party, it is expected that a pro-TMC man is in the reckoning. But under-currents sending a different message. A TMC MP is unseemly interested in seeing Anindya Mitra, formerly a junior of Somnath Chatterjee obviously with the support of the said senior."
